My Story
Rooted in Atascadero
I am a fourth-generation Atascadero resident, sixth-generation Central Coast local, and proud Atascadero High School graduate. My husband, Chris, also grew up here, and we’re grateful to be raising our daughter, Camber, in the community that shaped us both.
When we welcomed Hannah, an exchange student from Germany, into our home, what began as a year together became a lifelong relationship. She became another daughter to us and a reminder that family and belonging are also about opening our lives and making room for others.
My family’s roots in this region stretch back many generations, several of whom now rest peacefully in the historic Adelaida Cemetery. They remind me that we’re each just one chapter in a much longer story, with a responsibility to leave this place better for those who follow.
I learned that responsibility from my grandparents. Paul and Florence, and Tom and Orah spent decades serving Atascadero through our schools, Senior Center, Historical Society, Masonic and Shriners Lodges, Atascadero Community Church, and polling places. They taught me that when you care about your community, you show up and care for it in return.
Leading by Example
I am proud to see that same sense of community taking root in Camber and so many of Atascadero’s kids. Our schools, recreation programs, youth sports, arts programs, community clubs, and countless local activities—from rock climbing and archery to horseback riding and outdoor adventures, are giving them opportunities to explore their interests, discover their passions, and grow alongside wonderful, lifelong friends.
Watching them thrive has reinforced for me how important it is that young people have the chance to find where they belong, build lasting friendships, and feel deeply connected to the place they call home.
Building Communities
For more than twenty years, my career in design, construction, housing, and community development has centered on creating places where people can build meaningful lives. I believe good neighborhoods are more than just homes and streets; neighborhoods are where people connect, families put down roots, and communities grow stronger together.
Much of my work has focused on creating opportunities for homeownership, which can provide a powerful foundation for a family’s long-term stability and success. That work has also given me a practical understanding of how thoughtful planning, good design, and responsible development can strengthen a community for generations.
For nearly six years, I have also served on Atascadero’s Design Review Committee, helping shape development throughout our city. I have consistently focused on thoughtful design and neighborhood compatibility—welcoming growth and new opportunities in ways that complement the character, natural beauty, and neighborhoods that make Atascadero feel like home.

When I think about Atascadero’s future, I think about the opportunities that shaped my life and made it possible for my family to build a life here. I want more people to have that same chance—to raise a family, get to know their neighbors, find their place in the community, and feel that they truly belong.
I hope we can grow in a way that welcomes new families and new possibilities while caring for what makes Atascadero special. And I hope every generation feels the same responsibility I learned growing up: to contribute where we can and leave this place better for those who come next.
